Panels/Seminars

Every year we create a series of panels and seminars for our attendees. The panels are usually held on Saturday and Sunday and we host anywhere from four to five panels in any given year .

This year we will be hosting 6 panels this year during the weekend. Come and meet the panelists and the get hard hitting information on getting your film into the hands of those that will make a difference.

 Panel 1: SATURDAY OCTOBER 18, 11am-1pm

Columbia College Presents: HOW TO LAUNCH YOUR CAREER WITH A SHORT FILM

This panel will explore life after film school and the real methods used to get your short film noticed and launch your career. Learn from the experts that have actually done this with their short films and learn tangible lines you can follow. Learn from those who created shorts and won the attention of Hollywood. Columbia College is presenting this expert panel. Q&A to follow.

Panel 2: SATURDAY OCTOBER 18, 1pm-3pm

WGA Presents: WOMEN RUNNING THE SHOW ON PRIME TIME TV:  Learn from top women showrunners in Hollywood

Venue: Regal Theatre Stadium 14 LA LIVE: 1000 West Olympic Blvd Los Angeles, CA  90015

This panel explores the role of the show runner with expert women Showrunners who have a proven history of success in a dog eat dog world. Learn from their mistakes and the ways you may be able to approach those in power that run the show on prime time TV and cable. The WGA Women’s Committee is our sponsor on this panel and has been involved with the festival since 2006. Q&A to follow.

Panel 3: SATURDAY OCTOBER 18, 3pm-6pm

INDEPENDENT PITCHING PANEL and PITCH FEST: Learn what you need to know to sell your film or idea

We explore the avenues available for independent filmmakers to get their films made through the pitching process. We will have a panel of expert managers, producers, writers, and development executives who will give pointers and reveal the process of pitching in Hollywood. We will have a Q&A with the expert panelists and then you will get a chance to pitch your idea or script in front of our panel – and get direct feedback on your idea, style, and presentation. Panel 4: SUNDAY OCTOBER 19, 10am-12noon

FINANCE and DISTRIBUTION: How to get the money to make your film!

If you are an independent filmmaker the hardest part is getting the funding to actually make your film. This panel of experts will provide real world solutions to your issues and illustrate methods that can be mastered to make your dream a reality.  Q & A to follow.

Panel 5: SUNDAY OCTOBER 19, 12noon-2pm

SAG-AFTRA National Women’s Committee: Women & New Media: How to Get Noticed through Unconventional Ways

The panel will explore the successes of those who have started off as actors and have been able to create content that has been screened in the alternative market place successfully. Our panelists are those actively involved in creating content from the ground up in the alternative forms of Amazon, Hulu, Netflix, Funny or Die, You Tube, and Roku Channels. Q&A to follow.

Panel 6: SUNDAY OCTOBER 19, 2pm-4pm

HOW TO GET YOUR REALITY TV or ALTERNATIVE CONCEPT INTO THE MARKET PLACE: How to launch your non-scripted show whatever your media may be

This panel will explore the successful actions to get your non scripted concepts to air. Learn from the expert panel speakers who have done it and learn from their successes to make your own.  This is a must see panel for content creators. Q&A to follow.
