Kerris Dorsey will get the Rising Star Award 2016.
As a series regular on the dramatic Showtime series “Ray Donovan”, Kerris Dorsey stars as Bridget, the loving yet curiously rebellious daughter of Ray (Liev Schreiber). The series debuted on June 30, 2013 breaking viewership records as the largest Showtime premiere of all time. The show was recently renewed for a fifth season. Most recently, Dorsey starred in Disney’s film adaptation of ALEXANDER AND THE TERRIBLE, HORRIBLE, NO GOOD, VERY BAD DAY alongside Steve Carell and Jennifer Garner. She additionally wrote and performed the film’s end credits song (“Best Worst Day”) with her real life sister, Justine Dorsey. The two were named the Overall Grand Prize Winners of the 2014 USA Songwriting Competition for their track “Best Worst Day.” As a native of Los Angeles, Dorsey has found success in Hollywood in the TV, Film & Music industries. Dorsey made her first foray into acting as Paige Whedon on the hit ABC series “Brothers & Sisters” (2006-11). After guest roles in TV shows such as “Sons of Anarchy” and “Mad Men,” Dorsey appeared in a supporting role in the Disney Channel movie GIRL VS. MONSTER (2012). Dorsey appeared in her first feature film in 2005 alongside Reese Witherspoon in JUST LIKE HEAVEN. Later that year she appeared as ‘Kathy Cash’ in the award-winning film WALK THE LINE, also alongside Reese Witherspoon and Joaquin Phoenix. Dorsey’s breakout role came in 2011 with Bennett Miller’s MONEYBALL, where she starred alongside Brad Pitt and Jonah Hill. In addition to her thriving activing career, Dorsey is an avid singer and songwriter. She appeared on the MONEYBALL soundtrack covering a version of the song “The Show,” in addition to her song on the ALEXANDER soundtrack.
Dorsey currently resides with her family in Southern California.
